Working as a team, Matsubue and Togawa are the teenage kidnappers who apprehend Mikoto in the OVA, and suspend her from the top of a two story tall rope and cord pole. This occurs during the night of the Summer Festival, on the shrine festival grounds. The kidnappers want to find out how strong the passionate love and drool bond is between Mikoto and Akria. Akira stumbles upon a strange tent, and when he goes inside, sees the two kidnappers in keen observation; and a bound Mikoto in apparent grave danger from falling the two stories to her death. With Mikoto and Akria also working together as a team, he saves her from the kidnappers nefarious plans. The kidnappers are only a teenage boy and his teenage girlfriend, but they wear animal ninja masks during the whole ordeal. It gives them the illusion of being fox spirits.
Near the end, as the kidnappers are 'comparing notes' on what they saw happen on this very special night, the girl addresses the male as Matsubue, lecturing him that high school kids can't drink alcohol. She thought he was drinking sake, but he claims it was just water.
It's not clear if the kidnappers are actually human though, or even if they might be from another dimension, because Matsubue was able to take the fabric cup and jar pattern off of Mikoto's kimono, and actually use it as a cup to give himself a drink (it was only a stitched pattern). He seems to have a familiarity with such ancient things, and how to morph them into reality.
Finally, muttering to himself, Matsubue refers to the girl as Togawa.
